This school aims to bring together curious minds from various disciplines to engage, and collaborate to advance our understanding of the brain. Participants will learn the fundamentals of neuroscience and explore various techniques regarding the mechanisms behind the science of intelligence. State of the art artificial intelligence techniques as well as opportunities & challenges will also be discussed. Participants will gain hands-on experience along with a theoretical understanding from experts in the field. The school aims to bring forth budding female researchers from underrepresented regions from all over India and provide advanced training in computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence on a global platform while creating an environment that facilitates the exchange of ideas and opportunities among participants.

About the school:

The road to understanding the structure and function of the brain is a long journey that invites contributions from researchers and professionals from highly diverse backgrounds. Discussions among established as well as budding neuroscientists have great potential for unraveling new frontiers in brain research. Along with researchers from neurobiology, psychology, and medicine, the modern age of high-power computation has enabled mathematicians, physicists, and engineers to join the dialogue and explore the horizons of neuroscience together. The symbiotic closed-loop relationship between neuroscience and computational intelligence has recently witnessed major strides, hinting toward much larger unexplored areas of brain-inspired computational models in the future. Moreover, advances in data analysis methods, computer sciences, and medical imaging continue to open new windows into the brain, further uncovering fascinating features of brain structure and function. Dense collaborations and interdisciplinary research need to be encouraged to delve deeper into the folds of the brain while developing cutting-edge technology for improved healthcare, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of neurological disorders. The IBRO Spring School on ‘Computational Neuroscience and AI’ 2023 aims to bring together curious minds from various disciplines to engage, learn, and collaborate to advance our understanding of the brain.

Given the large-scale opportunities and scope of neuroscientific research in the coming years, it is high time that a strong front of future female neuroscientists are motivated and trained to join the conversation, bearing the torch of inclusivity and equality in academia. The school aims to bring forth budding female researchers from underrepresented regions from all over India and provide advanced training in computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence on a global platform while creating an environment that facilitates the exchange of ideas and opportunities among the participants.
