IBRO Officers: Current & Past

IBRO Officers include the President, Secretary General and Treasurer. They provide exceptional leadership with the potential to make a powerful impact on global neuroscience by overseeing, promoting and guiding the organization as a whole. They work with over 90 international, national and regional scientific member organizations, five Regional Committees, IBRO-ECC, Secretariat staff and other groups and like-minded partners to ensure that the needs of neuroscientists everywhere are met, global priorities are identified and gaps in knowledge, investment and resources in brain research are bridged.

The President and Treasurer serve for one full term of 3 years and can be re-elected for a second and final term also consisting of 3 years. The Secretary General serves for only one full term for a total of 3 years (1 year as Secretary General Elect, 2 years as active Secretary General and cannot be re-elected. Candidates are sought and nominated by the Nominations Committee and elected through an online voting process by the Governing Council members.
