IBRO-ARC Neuroscience School on Functional Genomics and Neurological Disease in Africa

19/03/2020 - 26/03/2020

This IBRO-ARC School aims to provide a critical understanding of functional genomics in neurological disease endemic in Africa. Functional genomics and neurological disease in Africa will be featured in a series of training sessions and mentoring activities tailored around the most prevalent neurological diseases on the African continent. Select disease entities and/or conditions of the nervous system will be used as a model to elucidate the critical aspects of genomics, neurobiology, and neuropathology underlying their pathogenesis. Special emphasis will be put on infectious, toxiconutritional, and neurodegenerative disorders. For each of the neuropathological conditions of interest, attempts will be made to elucidate biomarkers and pathways to diseases as well as the potential targets for treatment. The school foresees an intensive face-to-face interactive program to allow participants to improve their research proposals. Additional modules will focus of ethics, responsible conduct of research as well as networking and effective scientific communication.
