IBRO-ARC Neuroscience School on Environmental Neurotoxicity in West Africa: The Challenges and the Therapeutic Opportunities

This proposed Brain School is designed to bring together young neuroscientists, neurologists and allied medical professionals to be taught by leaders in the field who have worked in the areas of neuroepidemiology, experimental neurotoxicology, and neurotherapeutics. The plan is to build capacity in West Africa amongst scientists, medical and allied practitioners, to be ready for the mental health challenges of the future and to be part of the solution. In this regard, we shall be inviting 25 students from across West Africa. We shall give priorities to those who have not attended IBRO Schools before.

In this school, we shall also be listening to policymakers and hopefully have them listen also to the challenges in brain health from the environment. We shall also be investing in mentoring sessions aimed at how young West Africa Scientists can be better trained and remain committed to capacity building in the region through effective scientific collaborations.
