This school aims to emphasize the crucial impact of healthy lifestyle modification on the prevention and management of neurodegenerative disorders, mainly dementia and Parkinson’s disease. This school will provide an example of a multidisciplinary approach between different specialities that should be implemented urgently for protecting our people from developing these neurodegenerative disorders.

About the School

Dementia and Parkinson’s disease are the most common neurodegenerative disorders worldwide. Due to their chronic and progressive natures and the dramatic increase in the number of patients suffering from these neurodegenerative disorders, an urgent intervention for facing these disorders is necessitated. Most of the patients suffering from these neurodegenerative disorders are not attributed to known-genetic mutations and are classified as idiopathic cases. Overweight, obesity, lack of physical activity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, exposure to environmental contaminants and stress increase the risk to develop these disorders.

Targeting these modifiable risk factors through healthy lifestyle modification can significantly reduce the growing problem of these debilitating neurodegenerative disorders. The faculty of this school are experts in the fields of nutrition, neurology, toxicology, psychology, epidemiology, neuroscience, and molecular biology. Students will be exposed to the recent updates in these interesting scientific fields. Besides the interactive theoretical sessions, practical and hands-on training will be provided related to healthy lifestyle components, academic and interpersonal skills, modelling of neurodegenerative disorders, genetic analysis, and epidemiological approaches for neurodegenerative disorders.
