IBRO-ARC TReND School on Invertebrate Neuroscience: A focus on open science and disease vectors

This school aims to advance knowledge in neuroscience and open science using invertebrate model organisms as well as disease vectors.

The objective of the course is to teach how low-cost, state-of-the-art research tools and models can be employed in a low-resource setting. While we will be primarily using Drosophila melanogaster and Caenorhabditis elegans, we will also include models of immediate relevance to the African context, including insect and nematodes disease vectors. We will also put special emphasis on the importance of good scientific conduct, project design, management, and scientific communication. The course will combine theoretical, discussion and laboratory sessions, with a very strong focus on laboratory practical sessions.
