Electrophysiology Boot Camp for Women

The Electrophysiology Boot Camp for women seeks to empower women and motivate them to pursue an academic career in the area of neurophysiology. Women have been historically underrepresented in the STEM fields worldwide. In Latina American countries due to socio-cultural reasons, the gender gap between male and female scientists gets even bigger. This gender gap exists not only in the macro areas of STEMs, but can also be found in their subdisciplines. Specifically for neuroscience, a big percentage of women who decide to follow an academic career path in the field tend to choose research lines centered in topics such as molecular biology, immunology and cognitive sciences, leaving electrophysiology as a discipline largely dominated by male scientists. The Electrophysiology Boot Camp for women is a theoretical-practical course where graduate students and postdocs will get closer to the concepts of electronics and biophysics and will have the opportunity to interact with women in science whose research lines incorporate electrophysiology.
